The First Hangzhou International Kite Festival was held by Tongjian Lake at Xihu District in Hangzhou on April 28, attracting 36 teams from China, USA, South Africa, Lebanon, and other countries & regions.

A kite stands for the Chinese traditional sports culture. Its making technique is listed in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Its shape and pattern showcase people's blessings for a better life.

The event also includes Youth Kite Match, Kite Invitational Competition. And some activities like fun games and kite making were held to attract more participants.
