On April 25, Hangzhou rolled out a regulation on intelligent connected vehicles (also known as "driverless vehicles"), announcing that Hangzhou will offer pilot areas for smart vehicles spanning 3,474 square kilometers in eight urban districts.

Given that, Hangzhou becomes the first city in China to establish the legislation that clarifies the on-road process of intelligent connected vehicles.

As one of the first batch of dual pilot cities for demonstration and promotion of new energy vehicles in China, Hangzhou has been dedicated to becoming the demonstration area for driverless vehicles since 2015. At present, there are driverless shuttle buses in Hangzhou in core urban districts.

The release of the policy will accelerate the development of intelligent connected vehicle industry.
