To mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and China as well as the Franco-Chinese Year of Cultural Tourism, on Apr 1, the event LA NUIT DU LAC A MILLE ILES, CHINE was held in Paris.
When 12 selected paintings of "new ruralites" from Zitong Town, Chun'an County, including oil painting, printmaking, and Chinese painting were showcased, it not only became the highlight of the event but also further strengthened the cultural connection between Hangzhou's Chun'an County and Paris.
Eric Duluc, the President of the International Federation of Tourism, expressed profound interest in these art pieces, particularly when he was captivated to discover that these paintings were crafted by untrained farmers. His admiration deepened upon learning this fact, and notably, he went as far as likening one of the artworks to the style reminiscent of Claude Monet.
Committed to building the brand of "Art City", Chun'an has also maintained a close linkage with the French art world. In November last year, Qiandao Lake officially launched the Sino-French joint--Qiandao Island Art City brand conference and global artist residency program in Alpha City. This initiative underscores the commitment to merging international creative forces and enhancing the local cultural landscape.
"The people of France and China both love culture and hold curiosity towards each other. 2024 will be an opportunity for us to continue deepening our cultural cooperation," said Roselyne Bachelot, French Minister of Culture in her speech.
