The Chinese crested tern, often dubbed "the birds of legend", is now making a steady comeback in Xiangshan county of Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province.

British environmentalist Terry Townshend, who has been based in China for over a decade, shared his experiences on the island in Xiangshan in participating in the protection project of Chinese crested terns.

"You'll see here, all these things will help to attract the Chinese crested terns to this place. They can monitor them from here to ensure that there be as successful as possible in the breeding season," he said.
