The highly anticipated 2024 Badminton Asia Championships commenced today in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.

Scheduled to run through April 14, the tournament features competitions in men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles, with a roster of approximately 320 athletes from 28 countries and regions set to participate.

The Chinese badminton team is gearing up for a strong showing across all categories in the championship. Local rising star Wang Chang, hailing from Ningbo, alongside his partner Liang Weikeng, is set to face a formidable Indian duo in the opening round.

Distinguished as a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 1000 event, the Badminton Asia Championships offer players the opportunity to secure crucial world ranking points. This year's edition serves as the ultimate qualifying event for Asian badminton players aiming to secure berths in the upcoming Paris Olympics.

In an effort to provide exceptional services for both athletes and spectators, the host city of Ningbo has enlisted 300 volunteers and increased the frequency of certain metro lines, ensuring that passengers can take the subway back within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the tournament's nighttime events.
