"Don't be afraid, we are all right beside you!" Amidst the bustling streets of Hangzhou, a female traffic police officer embraced an emotionally overwhelmed girl for five to six minutes, as captured in a video.

During the hectic morning rush hour of last Monday, the girl was emotionally unstable after being accidently knocked down with her scooter.

Upon arriving at the intersection of Huan Cheng East Road and Mo Ya Ying Road, He Fang, the officer, saw the distraught girl. She wore a blue T-shirt, with her face bathed in tears, and visible scratches on her head and hands.

Observing her emotional state, He immediately encircled her in a warm embrace and whispered, "Don't cry, don't cry, we're here for you!"

As she held the girl close, He gently soothed her and sought to divert her thoughts. "We'll assist you in navigating this situation. Are you still planning to proceed to work later?" The woman nodded in acknowledgment, tears still flowing freely.

"Alright, alright, don't cry anymore. I won't feel at ease if you ride in this state." He softly patted her on the back, providing comfort. At that moment, the girl's hands wrapped around He’s waist, holding her tightly.

During the embrace, He noticed that the girl was trembling. Concerned for her well-being, He inquired if she had eaten breakfast, to which the girl shook her head. Du Fei, He’s collegue, who was at the scene, quickly fetched snacks and yogurt from his police motorcycle's side box. "Here, have these first before you continue. There's no need to rush."

After eating the snacks and fully releasing her emotions in He's comforting embrace, the girl visibly improved with her tears gradually stopped.

He seized the moment to crack a humorous joke, instantly injecting a lively spirit into the atmosphere.

"We're pretty close in age," He Fang recalled, "so I treated her like a close friend while comforting her."

"We occasionally encounter such situations. It's crucial to take care of everyone's emotions," said He, a 34-year-old who has been in the traffic police force for over two years. Dealing with unexpected scenarios like this is indeed a vital skill for traffic police officers. According to He, her feminine nature tends to lend her a more sensitive personality, enabling her to respond to such situations in a gentler manner.

"It's often the gradual buildup of emotions that reaches a tipping point," He explained. "If we're able to offer prompt guidance and comfort, the situation can often resolve quickly." Speaking fondly of the extended embrace that lasted for five to six minutes, she joked that it was the longest hug she had ever given. Nevertheless, given the circumstances, it proved to be the most effective approach. "At that moment, all she needed was someone to lean on," she emphasized.

"And so, I reassured her that whenever she faces any challenges in the future, seeking the assistance of a police officer will undoubtedly be the right decision."
