The Hangzhou Xianghu Half Marathon commenced on the morning of March 31, with over 10,000 runners from home and abroad splashed through the scenic landscape of Xianghu Lake in Xiaoshan district, intertwining with its history, culture, and ecology.
The event featured a half marathon (21.0975 kilometers) and a fun run (4.5 km). Participants raced along the shores of Xianghu Lake, passing landmarks such as the Kuahuqiao Ruins Museum and the World Tourism Expo Center and soaking in the romantic spring ambiance as they ran.
Additionally, 99 couples participated in the couples run, where they encouraged each other and strolled amidst cherry blossoms, embodying the event's slogan "Love Xianghu, Run Together".
After fierce competition, Gachaga Morris Munene from Kenya clinched the men's half marathon championship with a time of 1 hour 3 minutes and 8 seconds.
The event marks the first marathon held in Xiaoshan district in the Post-Asian Games Era, aiming to further promote nationwide fitness activities and contribute to Hangzhou's transformation into an international city of sports.
