The city of Hangzhou is poised to become "the concert capital of the year" with an impressive lineup of musical talents slated to perform in 2024.

Leading the charge is pop diva Jolin Tsai, who has announced not just one but two back-to-back concerts on May 18 and 19, making her the first female artist to perform consecutive shows at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium, the so-called "Big Lotus".

The buzz around Hangzhou's concert scene has been building, with tickets for JJ Lin and Jay Chou already on sale, and performances by Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, and Eason Chan eagerly anticipated. The revelation of these acts has fans exclaiming over what has been dubbed a "big year" for the city's live music scene.

In a surprise announcement last year, Eason Chan electrified the audience at Li Ronghao's concert with the news that he would be performing in Hangzhou, sparking widespread excitement about the city's 2024 concert lineup. During March and April this year, concerts are scheduled nearly every weekend, featuring singers and bands like JJ Lin, Jay Chou, Accusetive and Sodagreen, offering fans a variety of musical experiences.

Jacky Cheung's "Summer of the Gods" series, running from July 12 to August 4 with 12 concerts, is another highlight, raising questions about how fans will plan their schedules to catch the performances.

The concert calendar extends beyond these names, with performances by A-lin, Lala Hsu and Amber Kuo also confirmed, showcasing the diversity and richness of Hangzhou's upcoming concert season.

This surge in concerts is supported by Hangzhou's state-of-the-art venues, which have been significantly upgraded following the Asian Games. These venues include the Big Lotus, the Little Lotus, Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium, and Huanglong Sports Center, each capable of accommodating crowds from ten thousand to fifty thousand. The city's readiness to host such a wide array of events signals a strong comeback for Hangzhou's live music scene, once overshadowed by Shanghai's concert market.

As the 2024 concert calendar fills up, music fans in Hangzhou and beyond are marking their calendars, ready to experience what promises to be an unforgettable year of live performances. With such a diverse lineup, Hangzhou is set to reclaim its spot on the map as a premier destination for music lovers.
