The groundbreaking ceremony for two venues of Hangzhou International Sports Center was held recently. Located at the heart of Hangzhou Future Sci-tech City, this project is poised to become a new landmark in Yuhang district, enhancing the city's cultural and sports landscape.

The International Sports Center, a key component of the Science and Technology Culture Center, is undertaking the construction of two major facilities: a comprehensive sports arena with the capacity to seat 18,000 spectators and a swimming and diving hall designed to accommodate 3,000 guests. These facilities are part of the "one stadium and two pavilions" concept, which also includes a professional football stadium with a seating capacity of 60,000. The total investment for this extensive project exceeds 9.5 billion yuan, covering a land area of approximately 260,000 square meters.

Officials expect the project to be completed within three years, with a target completion date set for the first half of 2027, the same time with the completion of the professional football stadium section. The design of the sports center incorporates elements of Yuhang's rich cultural heritage, such as Liangzhu jade cong and Jingshan tea fields, blending these with modern architectural dynamics to create a visually stunning and culturally significant complex.

The International Sports Center is designed to host a variety of events, ranging from high-standard international sports competitions to concerts and large-scale entertainment events. With facilities capable of accommodating sports like basketball, badminton, tennis, swimming, and diving, the center aims to meet the diverse needs of athletes and performers alike.

In addition to serving as a venue for major events, the center will offer extensive fitness and recreational facilities to the public, including badminton schools, tennis halls, basketball centers, and swimming pools, alongside outdoor amenities like jogging tracks and children's play areas.
