Plum flowers in full blossom, while magnolia about to charm visitors

Following a train of cloudy days, the sun finally appeared on February 27, providing an ideal day for outdoor activities. Plum Blossom Garden at Lingfeng Peak Scenic Area of Hangzhou Botanic Garden became therefore the place to hold a “plum blossom fair” for the people jam. 

Lingfeng was one of the three destinations for admiring the flowering plum blossoms around the West Lake. It used to be a place where literati back to the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period loved to hold cultural fairs. The also contributed a wealth of paintings, adding a cultural and legendary touch to the place. 

The fair saw master Hu Zhong from Hangzhou Botanic Garden lecturing on the history of Lingfeng Peak and the culture of plum blossoms. Artists from China Academy of Art also gave verses and made brushworks impromptu, presenting to the visitors a good sense of fine arts and plum blossoms. 

Hu said that plum blossoms in the garden were about to past the best. The flower season is expected to end before mid-March. He asked visitors to seize the precious time. 

Plum Blossom Garden garners the most and best plum trees in Lingfeng Peak. There are dozens of plum varieties. Pavilions, corridors and observation halls, combined with the enchanting blossoms, provides a great vibe for photos. 

Apart from plum blossoms, magnolia also began to flower. Frequently seen magnolia varieties in Hangzhou Botanic Garden include Magnolia biondii, Magnolia denudata, magnolia liliiflora as well as endangered Yulania amoena and Yulania sinostellata. The latter two endangered have in particular gained public recognition due to its rareness and beautiful flower shapes. Yulania amoena were about to open, and early March is expected to be a time to find them.
