Recently, Hangzhou Bay Sea-crossing Railway Bridge has been under construction.
Spanning 29.2 km, this bridge across Hangzhou Bay, one of top three strong-tide bays in the world, is about to be the longest sea-crossing high-speed railway bridge in the world.
It is a part of Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway, and will be connected to Yancheng-Nantong High-speed Railway, Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway, Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway, and Shanghai-Nanjing Riverside High-speed Railway, which greatly shortens the distance among core cities in the Yangtze River Delta.
After completion, passengers can directly reach Suzhou from Hangzhou with no detour through Shanghai, the trip will take about one hour, and ticket price will be cut. Passengers in Wenzhou and Ningbo can take the high-speed train to Shanghai, with no detour through Hangzhou, and the trip time will be shortened too.
