2024 Chinese Traditional Dragon Boat Competition in Bangkok

The 2024 "Chinese Traditional Dragon Boat Competition" took place along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok on Jan 2, 2024. Hosted by the Ramunion Rescue and organized by the Ramunion Rescue Thailand, this spectacular event marked the commencement of the "Ramunion Rescue Chinese Traditional Dragon Boat Competition" global series for the year.

The Ramunion Rescue Team specializes in international rescue, responding to natural disasters, mountain emergencies, and sudden urban crises. As of March 2022, the Ramunion Rescue has taken on 274 domestic and international rescue missions (including 15 international operations), volunteered 2,236 times, and successfully saved the lives of 7,886 individuals.

At the recent event in Bangkok, former Thai Deputy Prime Minister Chaturon Chaisang, members of Ramunion Rescue, including He Jun, founder of Ramunion Rescue, and representatives from Ramunion Rescue Thailand participated in the 'Eye dotting' ceremony. They dot in paint the eyes of a dragon boat figurehead, symbolizing its awakening before taking a ride.

Chaturon Chaisang extended his wishes for a prosperous Year of the Dragon to all Ramunion Rescue volunteers, encouraging them tocontinue their charitable endeavors.

The "Chinese Traditional Dragon Boat Competition" has been organized by Ramunion Rescue for years. Usually, it comprises two elements: the dragon boat race and the refined chant blessing. The elements convey the harmonious symbolism of "favorable weather for farming, mutual assistance in the same boat."

Since 2009, the Ramunion Rescue's Chinese Traditional Dragon Boat Competition has been impressively staged globally, at locations including the Seine River in Paris, the Danube River in Vienna, the Arno River in Florence, the Trinity River in Dallas near Lake Lewisville, the Port of Barcelona, and the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.
