On December 27, the Sixth Plenary (Expanded) Meeting of the Thirteenth Session of the CPC Municipal Committee & Municipal Economic Work Conference was held to summarize the work for 2023 and map out tasks for 2024.

Hangzhou successfully hosted a grand sports event featuring “Chinese Style, Asian Glamour, Spectacular” in 2023.

In economy, Hangzhou implements a series of policies and measures, and the GDP, public budget revenue, gross investment in fixed assets, and total retail sales of consumer goods have increased. Hangzhou promotes various reforms to optimize business environment and has attracted a lot of enterprises and talents. In addition, Hangzhou focuses on people’s wellbeing by strengthening construction of government-subsidized housing, renovating old residential areas, and providding educational and sports facilities, which advances common prosperity.

In 2024, Hangzhou is poised to deepen reform and to advance seven tasks. Talent cultivation remains the top priority to boost sci-tech innovation and financial reform. In terms of distinctive industrial clusters, it will focus on the development of digital economy and the exploration of cutting-edge technologies. It will expand investment and fuel consumption, especially digital, green and healthy consumption. It will stimulate vitality of market entities to deepen reform of government affairs services and development of private economy. It will conduct urban-rural integration and regional coordinated development to advance rural construction and urban renovation. It will enhance cultural charm of the city to promote cultural tourism and culture industry. It will build a safe city ruled by law to upgrade city governance.
