The Hangzhou white chrysanthemum, a traditional and distinctive agricultural product of Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province, has been cultivated for over 380 years and is valued for its medicinal and edible properties.
According to statistics, Jiaxing has exported a total of 690 metric tons of Hangzhou white chrysanthemum this year, with a value of more than 43.8 million yuan ($6.13 million).
Tongxiang Xinhe Health Products Co Ltd is one enterprise that exports Hangzhou white chrysanthemum abroad. Zhu Xiaoli, manager of the company's foreign trade department, said that now is the peak season for Hangzhou white chrysanthemum exports. This month the company has exported nearly 40 tons of the flower to Malaysia.
Jiaxing Customs also publicizes the latest foreign technical regulations and inspection and quarantine standards and origin tariff preference policies and guides processing enterprises to improve their technology and quarantine treatment.
In addition, Hangzhou white chrysanthemum production enterprises are exploring the cross-border e-commerce market. Qian Siyu, manager of the business department of Tongxiang Haitai Chrysanthemum Industry Co Ltd, said that the company has opened an Alibaba International Station and sold its products in Southeast Asia. "I believe that cross-border e-commerce can be the key to opening up new markets for characteristic agricultural products," Qian added.
