When winter sunlight streams down through the gaps of leaves, Beitang Park in Xiaoshan District welcomes its most poetic season. 

The 2023 Beitang City Walk theme event was recently held in Beitang Park. Close to 70 sports enthusiasts started their city walk in front of the Party-mass activity center in the park. Three interactive stations were set up along the city walk line. Participants can witness the renovated waterway and secondary water supply facilities, visit an exhibition of old implements, and play ping pong or badminton along the line, fully sipping the cultural charm, history and natural beauty along the southern bank of the Beitang River. 

It will be a great pleasure to take a walk along the river bank in a warm winter day. 

Greenway in cities is a place where residents can have recreational activities and do exercises. It is also a development way to improve cities’ quality. In recent years, Xiaoshan District has built 11 municipal-level waterways including Lyucaizhuang River and Xinkai River. The total length is 29 km and the entire water area is 1.16 million square meters. In 2023, the district planned to build a provincial-level waterway and two municipal-level waterways, which are Xiaodongpo River and Banlizhang River. More and more riverside parks and greenway became local residents' destinations for recreational activities. For example, the Luopoqiao Heng River with the theme of filial piety by He Zhizhang and Shiyan Yanshan River featuring sunflowers have been turned into such destinations. Riverside pavilions, benches, signs, garbage bins and other facilities were built along the rivers to make them attractive and accessible.
