Hangzhou recently unveils 16 new bases and sites for experiencing the lifestyle of the Song Dynasty (960-1127). 

It has been the third year since Hangzhou began to select such bases and sites. During the last two years, six bases and 23 sites were selected, generating a certain degree of social impact. 

This year’s selection started in April. Recommended by county-level bureau for culture, radio, tourism and sports and trade associations, a total of 94 organizations applied for recognition as an experience base. After field trips, inspection and expert review and appraisal, two of them were shortlisted as experience bases and 14 as experience sites. The two bases are Deshou Palace Heritage Museum and Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Block. The 14 experience sites include venues where people can experience how to make Song pastries and handicrafts.
