A total of 288 athletes from 27 NPCs will compete in the Swimming competition at Hangzhou Asian Para Games.

Last time around at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Para Games it was China, Japan and Uzbekistan who dominated the Swimming events but at the recent Para Swimming World Championships, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and the Republic of Korea all finished ahead of Uzbekistan on the medal table.

China were in third place overall at the World Championships, with several multi-gold medalists competing in Hangzhou, including four women Jiang Yuyan (three golds, two silvers in the S6 events), Ma Jia (two golds, one silver, one bronze in the S11 events), Lu Dong (two golds, two bronzes in the S5 events), and Wang Xinyi (one gold, one silver in the S11 events). In the Men's events, Yang Hong (two golds in S6 events) and Guo Jincheng (two golds, one silver, one bronze) will be hoping to add to their medal haul this year.

Others to watch who will be arriving fresh from World Championships triumphs are Singapore's Yip Pin Xiu (two gold medals in the S2 category), Japan's Naohide Yamaguchi (gold in the Men's 100m Breaststroke SB14), Hong Kong, China's Chan Yui Lam (gold in the Women's 100m Butterfly S14) and Republic of Korea's Jo Giseong (one gold, one silver). Uzbekistan will be hoping that Islam Aslanov will add to his medal haul of two silver medals that he took home from the World Championships.

The Swimming events will take place from October 23 to 27 at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Aquatic Sports Arena. The Games' youngest competitor, 13-year-old Ng Cheuk Ya from Hong Kong, China, will compete in three events.
