In November, 2022, Hangzhou Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology discovered a neolithic site in Shenjiafan Village, Fenshui Town, Tonglu County, Hangzhou.
At present, more than 20,000 cultural relics have been excavated. Most of them are neolithic stone products and tools. The experts deduced that it was the siteof "Stone Artifact Processing Factory" duringLiangzhu Culture Period. Stone artifacts produced here may be transported to other surrounding settlements for exchange of materials. The ancestors of Liangzhu“set up a factory and started a business”5,000 years ago.
The convenient water transport made production and trademorepossible. The ancestors of Liangzhu grasped the skills of steering boats and bamboo rafts, andthewater transport was the most convenient mode of transportation at that time. Fenshui River near the site was the largest tributaryofFuchun River, which was conductive to the acquisition and transportation of raw materials for stone artifacts.
The site showed the wisdom of Hangzhou's ancestors, and the charm of historical civilization.
