It is reported that Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou High-speed Railway is expected to start construction next year. The railway starts from Hangzhouxi Station, passes by Tongxiang, Zhapu, etc., and ends at Shanghaidong Station. This means that Hangzhou has another high-speed railway directly connected to Shanghai.

After the completion of construction, the residents living in the west of Hangzhou can directly reach Shanghai from Hangzhouxi Railway Station by train, without having to cross most of the city to Hangzhoudong Railway Station or Hangzhou Railway Station.

Shanghaidong Station is adjacent to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. After Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou High-speed Railway is completed, Hangzhou people can directly arrive at Pudong Airport by high-speed rail, which is more convenient for outbound trips.
