Zhejiang is the demonstrative zone for common prosperity in China. Hangzhou has rolled out many new measures to promote economic development, which assumes that common prosperity villages and zones should play a leading role. 

Common prosperity means to make everyone get well-off through hardworking and mutual aid. It is the prosperity of general public based on elimination of polarization and poverty, and is achieved by allowing some to get rich first and then set an example and help the rest to get rich later. 

Hangnan Village included in the second batch of common prosperity villages is renowned for the roasted mutton, which has attracted a large number of tourists from surrounding regions. The large tourist flow has brought along growth of various business types of tourism in the village. Many villagers have availed the opportunity and returned to the village to start business. They have established the cafes that have gone viral online, campsites and farms for tourists to enjoy tea drinking and angling.

“Today’s countryside is a whole lot different from what it used to be. Now, young people prefer to spend their holidays in the countryside and we are making more money. ” said Zhou Youquan, the 62-year-old villager.
