As a messenger of spring, Magnolia often bears much expectation. Recently, Magnolia amoena in Hangzhou Botanical Garden has been in full bloom attracting many visitors.

The numerous light pink buds, all on the point of blooming, stud the branches of magnolia trees in bright sunshine, looking romantic and fantastic against the blue sky with dark mountains as the background.

Magnolia amoena is one of the rare and endangered species of magnolia family and is only grown in China. It has been rated as VU (vulnerable) in the red list of endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2014.

According to the staff of Hangzhou Botanical Garden, the florescence of Magnolia amoena is very short, and the blooming period lasts about one week. So go for it, or you will miss it soon.
