Xu Ruihang, a student from Grade 8 of Hangzhou Guancheng Experiment School in Hangzhou, broke the national record for the average time for playing Rubik’s Revenge with a result of 23.86s at 2023 WCA Cube Championships held in Singapore on February 17-19.

The news caused a sensation in the school. “Xu Ruihang is really good at playing cubes. Many students in the class begin to play cubes under his influence,” said Mr. Lei, the head teacher of Xu. At the Campus Guinness Challenge held last year, students spent 1 hour to outline the emblem of Hangzhou Asian Games on the wall using 1,200 cubes under the guidance of Xu Ruihang. In 2021, Xu became the first Chinese to break the world record for Rubik’s Cube with the average time of 5.48s at 2021 WCA Wuhan Cube Open.

Many parents in Hangzhou encourage their children to play cubes, as the cube can train their thinking. If they are lucky enough to participate in world competitions, they can broaden their horizon and improve their English.
