With the theme of 'restoration of wetland', the promotional activities of Chinese venue of 2023 World Wetland Day, which falls on February 2, will be held in Hangzhou Xixi National Wetland Park. How does Hangzhou preserve the beauty of the wetlands and how does it achieve the harmonious coexistence of city and nature?

Strengthen legislative protection. Hangzhou has successively delimited the red lines for the wetland protection, and promulgated Regulations of Hangzhou on Wetland Protection, Regulations on Protection and Management of Hangzhou Xixi National Wetland Park and other legal documents to specify the measures for the protection and management of the various types of wetlands. With the legal protection, Hangzhou has further improved wetland ecology, built the first national wetland park and blazed Hangzhou characteristic road for wetland protection and utilization, known as 'Xixi Model'. 

Pool the social force to protect wild fauna and flora. Hangzhou has successively carried out 'Wild Fauna and Flora Protection Promotion Month', 'Bird Preservation Week' and other promotion activities to encourage more extensive involvement of social force. The city supported and coordinated the organization of West Lake Mandarin Duck Guarding Team and other civilian forces for the wildlife protection, and established the sheltering and rescuing system for the effective protection of wildlife. It is said that Hangzhou has annually saved over 500 wild animals in recent years. 

Through harmonious coexistence of wetland and city, protection of wetland and improvement of urban ecology, a city can further enhance its comprehensive competitive force, expand international influence and promote the harmony between man and nature and the high-quality development of the society.
