It is said that one third of the beautiful autumn scenery rests with reed catkins. Located in Yuhang District, with a vast expanse of wild reed catkins swaying in wind, Beihu Marsh has recently become a popular destination for photography.

As the most primitive wetland in suburb Hangzhou, Beihu Marsh is featured by clusters of wild grasses, groves and a large assembly of birds of various varieties. Eumyias thalassinus, a rare variety of bird, was first found on the Bird-viewing Festival held here last Sunday.

The birds and reed catkins not only present the beautiful autumn scenery for tourists, but also prove good results of Hangzhou’s efforts in improving ecology.
