Authorities in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, on Oct 21 launched a plan to build a complete chain for waste recycling in the 2022-25 period.

According to the plan, waste recycling stations should be accessible to all urban residents and 70 percent of rural residents. The city should also have at least four environmentally-friendly trash distribution centers and 10 waste recycle companies.

"In 2021, 94 percent of urban residents and 60 percent of rural residents had access to waste recycling stations. About 60.7 percent of household waste was recycled, composted or reused," said authorities at the city's development and reform commission.
