Xianghu Country (International) Sports Park will open soon in Hangzhou's Xiaoshan district. It is the first Roland Garros clay court introduced from France to Zhejiang Province.

It has been more than 130 years since the first professional clay tennis court came into being.

A traditional clay tennis court has five layers and can be up to 80 centimeters thick. Clay courts have good water absorption and drainage systems. In addition, its soft texture can slow the impact on the players' joints.

The Roland Garros International Tennis Championship, also known as French Open, is the most famous tournament that uses clay courts. Chinese tennis player Li Na won the first Asian Grand Slam singles title at Roland Garros in 2011.

In addition to the tennis courts, Xianghu Country (International) Sports Park also has a standard 11-a-side soccer pitch, basketball courts and a plastic running track.

At present, the official opening time of the sports park has not been determined. After its opening, every Monday will be designated as the public welfare open day.
