Located in Shuangpu Town, Xihu District, Tongjian Lake has been hailed as the sister lake of the West Lake. However, the lake had gradually turned into the land due to clogged mud from Qiantang River. 

The Proposal for Tongjian Lake Flood Control, Drainage and Storage Engineering Project was officially approved on May 10, 2018. The construction of the main lake area was completed in December, 2021. The lake was impounded in an eco-friendly way by pumping water from Qiantang River Pump Station. 

Now, Tongjian Lake is not only a functional lake for flood control and water regulation, but also a good destination for sightseeing.
