The scorching summer has come as the plum rain season ended. Some forests in Hangzhou's Yuhang District have become popular destinations for those looking for a relief from the heat.

The Dongming Mountain Forest Park(东明山森林公园) is on the north side of the Anxi Ancient Town and the south bank of East Tiaoxi Creek. The particular natural environment has formed a unique microclimate, making it a good place for people to escape from the summer heat. The park is also near the Yaoshan Hill Park, an important site of Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City that opened to the public last year.

The Jingshan-Shanggougou National Forest Park(径山·山沟沟国家森林公园) lies in the Luniao town and Jingshan town, with several popular tourist sites. The area boasts forest coverage of 89.86% and is full of natural resources with 1,142 species of plants and 22 types of national and provincial protected animals.

With a history of more than 100 years, the Changle Forest Farm(长乐林场) is one of the earliest forestry parks founded in Zhejiang Province. With forest coverage of 95.11%, it is one of the top ten "most beautiful forest parks" in Hangzhou, and also a popular site for camping and climbing.

The Wuchao Mountain(午潮山) is rich in wild life resources and is a popular choice of hiking. The five peaks of Wuchao Mountain stand side by side, and the main peak can be reached by climbing from the Xishan National Forest Park(西山国家森公园). On the mountain top, you can have a bird's eye view of the Qiantang River on sunny days.

The Shifuti(石扶梯) scenic spot, owning rich cultural and natural resources, is situated in the Qingshan village of Huanghu town. Surrounded by green hills, its reservoir looks soothing. Water sports such as paddle boarding and platform boats are available there. There is also an ancient road on the Wangwei Mountain for hiking.

Zijing Village(紫荆村) in Zhongtai sub-district has a total of about 1867 acres of bitter bamboo forest. With forest coverage of 91.7%, it is hailed as the "hometown of bitter bamboo and bamboo flute in China." Visitors also get chances to watch and experience the flute making process.
