Binjiang District, Gongshu District and other districts of Hangzhou are busy competing for being recognized as “zero waste city”. According to Hangzhou Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, “The building of ‘zero waste city’ should start small: first ‘zero waste cells’, then ‘zero waste city’, and finally ‘zero waste society’.” Hangzhou will take the lead to launch 500 “zero waste city cells” by the end of this month, including schools, hospitals, factories, hotels, construction sites, villages, express delivery stations, etc., and integrate the idea of zero waste into the construction of Asian Games venues and the preparation of the event, so as to organize a unprecedented “green” Asian Games.
