Hangzhou is Zhejiang’s one and only city among the first batch of sponge demonstration cities in China and the Grand Canal Waterfront Public Space is one of Hangzhou’s sponge city demonstration projects. The project adopts multiple technologies to recover the ecosystem of the canal. With a total length of about 24km, the space is equipped with several culture theme riverbank parks, which help develop a waterfront public system combining sightseeing, leisure activities, and sports like running, riding and rowing.
