On July 21, the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and Hangzhou Municipal Government donated 20m yuan of relief funds earmarked for flood-hit Zhengzhou.

Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, lies in the center of China. The city is a major traffic hub with several railways and freeways passing by.

From July 17, extremely heavy rainfall hit Henan, with precipitation in Zhengzhou exceeding the highest level in local weather records. The record rainstorms in Zhengzhou have caused severe waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and power outages.

Traffic has been heavily affected by the downpour that hit Zhengzhou, causing several freeways to close and train services to halt.

According to the local authorities, the death toll has climbed to 33 in Henan province due to torrential rain since Friday, with eight more missing.
