More than 100 fish rubbings were exhibited at Hangzhou Public Library on 15th December. As a folk form of art originating in Chun’an and with a history of over a century, fish rubbing involves making a fish painting on paper through rubbing with ink or colors. The creators need to be extremely patient in capturing detailed features of fish so as to produce vivid images as if they were alive.
