Two deaf-mute chefs are hired by a HZ’s restaurant, as the owner said to “pull them back from the marginalized society.”

They have so far had a culinary experience of 3 and 6 months respectively in the restaurant, where effective communication are achieved with staff who learned basic sign language exclusively for them.

Although struggles remain harsh for people with disabilities in many aspects, the trend towards the acceptance of them in workforce has been stronger than ever.

A “silent”Starbucks cafe in HZ was open on the "International Disabled Day", in which half of the employees are hearing impaired; “Home of Charity and Love”, a supermarket that are staffed inclusively by disabled people, is also a place where everyone is perceived as “ordinary”; a workshop in HZ’s Jiande offers this group the chance to earn money by making handcrafts.
