In theEshan She-nation Ethnic Townshipin Hangzhou’s Tonglu, where villages are scattered deepin the mountains, education is a sizeable problem with resource shortages.

The lack of youth care, due to parents moving to cities for greater chances, leaves this younger generation even less educational support.

But recently, Mr. Wang from Shenguan Village couldn’t figure out what has prompted his grandson, Wang Wenjie, to studymorespontaneously.

The answer was made clear in the VR classrooms. Firstly introduced in the local schools on Oct. 19, the use of VR gives the students not only an access to the best educational resources available, but the learning process much more fun.

As the only ethnic minority township in Hangzhou,Eshanis taking the lead in stepping up its plans for digitization acceleration, with the VR classrooms being the first attempt, and the aim of digital transformation in education, agriculture, healthcare, etc.,a “new normal”.

To further extend the benefits of going digital to a total of 9,555 villagers, the recent deployed 5G base station named “Sky Eye”, together with another two stations, will begin operations soon, expanding the 5G coverage to the stretch of 28.7 square kilometers in the mountain.
