The 2ndSummit Forum on Innovative Drug Research was concluded on Oct. 30, bringing together over 300business investors,leading researchers and scientists to offer tips on the development of global anti-viral drugs.
The Forum looked at the latest research in “innovative drugs”, which has not yet been mentioned in the previous studies. They are the effective and safe application of novel chemical structures with therapeutic advantage for the treatment of a certain illness.
Zhou Qilin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said in his opening remarksthat the development of antiviral drugs has gained considerableattention due tothe COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped that the Forum wouldbridgethe expertsin both academia and industry.
Yue Jianmin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences shared with the audience that, artemisinin are recommended for the treatment of malaria. The therapy is a breakthrough as a result of applying TCM into innovative drug research and development, well illustrating that TCM can be further in line with antiviral drug development.
Jiang Shibo, Director of the Institute of Pathogenic Microbiology of Fudan University noted his speech that the broad-spectrum antiviral peptides were proved to be the best inhibitorsfor the prevention and control of coronavirus diseases such as SARS and COVID-19.
