The Wulin Night Market, a market specializing in sellinglocal products from less developed areas in an effort to help alleviate poverty, was unveiledin Hangzhouon Oct 20.
Local specialties and agricultural products fromthe EnshiTujia and Miao autonomous prefecture in Guizhou proved popular among Hangzhou residents at the market, as manyitemssold out in a short period of time.
Yang Lei, an employeeat Xinxi E-Commerce Co Ltd in Enshi, said that thecompanywished tothankthe people of Hangzhou for their poverty-alleviation assistance and allowing them to sell theirlocal products atalower price.
The night market also featured some local Hangzhou companies, which were all funded by villages. The companiessoldlocal products belonging tovillagers, andrevenue generated from the products was dispersed among allvillagers.
Similarattemptshave previously been made in Hangzhou in an effort to stimulate consumption and increasethe incomes of peoplefromlessdeveloped areas.
Over the past year, Hangzhouhasbought more than 1 billion yuan ($150.3 million) inagricultural products and specialties fromlessdeveloped areas.
