Each venue for Hangzhou Asian Games has its unique charm. The handball arena extracts the essence of Qiantang River and Jiangnan Silk, two symbols of Hangzhou culture, creating the concept of “water curtain”. About 308 “water curtains” are hanging down the main venue and the second venue from the roof, all the way to the green belt on the ground. Each “water curtain” is equipped with lights near the ground. When night falls, special patterns will be projected on the surface of the handball arena, making it a beautiful scene. The “water curtains” are also a natural sunshade which can not only make the venue much cooler inside but decrease dazzling light indoors to offer more comfortable visual experience.
