Yuhang district in Hangzhou, the capital of East China's Zhejiang province, has cultivated and introduced more than 7,000 technical companies, owing to the district's efforts to build and grow incubators.

The Torch Center at the Ministry of Science and Technology recently released a list of national maker spaces that have been put on record in 2020. According to the list, Yuhang has nine maker spaces, with the number of newly increased spaces topping all other districts in Zhejiang province.

Cocoon Space is an incubator focusing on providing incubation services for the biological economy. It started operations in late 2019.

So far, a number of well-known institutes and companies such as the Research Institute for Basic Medicine Innovation at Zhejiang University, Digital China Health and Linton Pharma, have joined the space.

In 2019, Yuhang launched 66 policies on building maker spaces, incubating projects, financial technology and more.

In 2020, Yuhang plans to add more than 40 incubators, which are estimated to cover more than 2.2 million square meters. The district plans to introduce more than 1,500 small and medium-sized companies.
