Major construction work on the stadium and natatorium of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center passed the inspection on May 11. Taking into account the "Comprehensive Training Center" whose construction partially passed the inspection last year, all the three main venues for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games are now taking shape.

The main stadium and natatorium sit on the two sides of a butterfly-shaped building the silver metal roofing of which stretches like two open wings that were said to be inspired by the renowned Chinese legend The Butterfly Lovers.

The main stadium is designed on the basis of the international basketball game venue having 18,000 seats. While the natatorium, with 6,000 seats, will be a high-end competition venue.

They will be fields of play for basketball, swimming, diving and other games during the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. At the moment, the indoor decoration, installation and equipment testing are still underway.

The 19th Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou from September 10 to 25, 2022. A total of 53 competition venues along with five Asian Games villages and 31 training venues will be put into use. All the fields of play are expected to be completed by March 2021.
