Hangzhou will launch the fourth Craftsman Competition to honor skilled technicians, according to an announcement made by the Hangzhou Federation of Trade Unions on May 11.
The competition will recognize 30 skilled technical workers in various industries and nominate 10 for the Hangzhou Craftsman Award.
The Hangzhou Federation of Trade Unions has been holding the competition since 2016. To date, 90 skilled technical workers have been honored as Hangzhou Craftsmen.
Last year's competition focused on recognizing skilled workers who made contributions to boosting the service sector, digital economy, manufacturing, the City Brain system and other areas.
Similar to last year's application process, associations and labor unions in Hangzhou will first recommend skilled workers to their higher-level organizations.
Experts will form a panel to select the final winners from among the candidates.
Winners will be granted the title "Hangzhou Craftsman" and receive 50,000 yuan ($7,050) in cash awards.
