Hangzhou Qiantang New Area, a district newly established in April, has mapped out an overall development plan for the area for the next 30 years, which was unveiled on Sept 24.
According to the plan, the 531.7-square-kilometer area is designed to be a world-class intelligent manufacturing industry cluster.
It is also designed to be a demonstration zone for the integrated development of Yangtze River Delta region, a major platform for provincial reform and opening up, and play a leading role in the integrated development of Hangzhou's digital economy and high-end manufacturing.
Officials said that to this end, Qiantang New Area will strive to bolster the intelligent manufacturing of the YDA region, build a transportation network with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and improve the local environment to make the place desirable for top professionals to live in.
Manufacturing clusters -- including semiconductors, life health, intelligent automobiles and intelligent equipment, aerospace and new materials -- will be among the key focuses of the area.
The Qiantang New Area was approved by the Zhejiang provincial government on April 2.
