Shuangpu town, a scenic spot in Xihu district, Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is applying pop culture to upgrade its tourism industry, which has led to an increase in visitors to the town, local media reported on Nov 29.

In 2020, the town received over 491,100 visitors and the tourism sector generated over 56.39 million yuan ($8.85 million) in revenue, according to Ding Limin, a staff member of the scenic spot's administration committee.

Even on workdays, there are still a few families sitting at their tents and enjoying barbecue. Many newlyweds come to the area for wedding photos. The area has become a social media sensation, attracting many online celebrities to come visit, said Ding.
