A new kind of strawberry, colored baby-pink, becomes one of the most popular types in Hangzhou despite its price. Named “fenyu(粉玉),” it was cultivated by Hangzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Yu Hong, the breeder of fenyu, started to develop the species 6 years ago.
Due to the special light color, foodies may mistake fenyu for the immature fruit for the first time. Actually, this kind of strawberries is sweeter with a stronger fragrance compared with the original species.
Around 50 mu(8.24 acre) of fenyu will be planted this year and expected to be put into mass production in the second half of 2020.
