Based in Hangzhou, Chinese beverage producer Wahaha announced recently that it will establish an e-commerce platform with an investment of CNY 200 million, covering sales of food and beverage, health care and infant products.
Hangzhou Wahaha Hongzhen Cross Border e-commerce Co. Ltd, has been set up on April 2. The business scope of the company include online sales of daily necessities, import and export of commodities, etc.
Industry analysts say that it marks a big change in the attitude of Zong Qinghou, the founder of Wahaha who used to be a critic of e-commerce.
“Wahaha was strong in R&D and production of health food,” Zong said. “there is no advanced vertically platform that provides total service from production to merchandising across the country, and this is an opportunity for Wahaha. Zong added that the worldwide Health-care brands will be introduced to the platform in the future in addition to selling its own products.
Zong is confident about the company’s future after embracing the e-commerce business. “We are planning to recruit additional 100,000 entrepreneurs as retail traders, which enables them to realize their dreaming of establishing their own business.
