The Spring Festival holiday is traditionally celebrated with a family gathering, but for the Bian family, who are from Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, the festive period was spent serving the public.

Policewoman Bian Xiao'er at the Puyan Police Station of the Binjiang branch of the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau, and her husband, who is also a policeman, had volunteered to participate in the epidemic control and prevention duties during the holiday.

They helped keep the regional outbreak in Hangzhou under control in a short period of time. No new cases were reported over the past four days.

Their daughter is also a volunteer at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. Her job is to provide English and French translation services.

Bian's daughter said that though they could not be together for the holidays, they still felt happy as they got to do their part for society.
