Hangzhou athletes bag medals at Tokyo Paralympics

Athletes from Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, have bagged medals at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Swimmer Wang Lichao won a gold medal in the Mixed 4×50m Freestyle Relay as well as a silver medal in the Men's 100m Freestyle.

Born in 1993, Wang won a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Paralympics before going on to win four gold medals at the 2019 World Paralympic Swimming Championship, where he broke three world records.

Another bronze medal was secured by Hangzhou cyclist Li Zhangyu at the Men's C2 3000m Individual Pursuit Final.

Born in 1988, Li has won gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympics and the Rio 2016 Paralympics. He has also won gold medals at the Incheon 2014 and Jakarta 2018 Asian Para Games, as well as at other cycling world championships.

Another swimmer from Hangzhou Xu Haijiao finished sixth in the Men's 100m Breaststroke – SB8 Final.

Born in 1994, Xu won two silver and two bronze medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. He has since then won six gold and three silver medals at the 2018 Asian Para Games, where he broke Asian records.
