Team China won a championship in the Taekwondo Mixed Gender Team Competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on July 27. Hangzhou-born athlete Chen Linglong was part of the winning team.
Chen was born in Linping district, Hangzhou in 1993. He has won multiple national and world taekwondo championships at individual competitions.
The Taekwondo Mixed Gender Team Competition of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics featured teams representing China, Japan, Iran, Côte d'Ivoire, and the Russian Olympic Committee. It is a performance event and its medals won't be officially recorded, said Chen.
However, the popularity of performance events determines if they can enter the next Olympics as an official event, he added.
