Recently, Hangzhou Grand Canal Group launched the opening ceremony for the Education and Practice Center on Party Building and Political Integrity at which the establishment of the Grand Canal (Hangzhou) Party Building Union was announced, signaling a joint commitment to the conservation and development of the Grand Canal by all party organizations involved.

An overwhelming consensus has been reached that in order to effectively protect, exploit and open up the Grand Canal Hangzhou Section and turn it into a model of the Grand Canal National Park, having all parties rally their support to serve the same purpose is absolutely essential. The initiative on building the Grand Canal (Hangzhou) Party Building Union, since first proposed, has been joined by nearly 100 party organizations, including Party Committee of Hangzhou Iron & Steel Banshan Production Base Administration Committee, Kangqiao Subdistrict Party Committee, Zhongtian Holding Group Party Committee, Party Branch of Yunhe Chenhe Museum Company, and Party Branch of Hangzhou Daily News Center.

The Education and Practice Center on Party Building and Political Integrity is situated in an old industrial base of Hangzhou Iron & Steel in the Demonstration Zone for the Planning and Building of the Large City North Area, close to the Banshan National Forest Park. Building on the former Hangzhou Iron & Steel Industry and Commerce Building on No.1 Jinchang Road, the Center has an exhibition area of 600 square meters, which is mainly used to display Hangzhou Grand Canal Group’s vision and mission, along with its assiduous efforts in party building and the pursuit of a clean and healthy intraparty atmosphere. Besides, the Center is also an ideal venue for a wide range of occasions such as conferences, political anniversary celebration, education and training, volunteer service and recreational activities, with an ultimate goal of creating a platform through which party organizations of interest in the construction of Grand Canal National Park and the planning and building of the Large City North Area can keep party discipline, share best practices, and contribute to local development.

At the opening ceremony, a representative from Hangzhou Grand Canal Group read the initiative letter, pointing to a desired future where all party organizations involved join hands in setting up the Grand Canal (Hangzhou) Party Building Union. What the initiative gets at really is to extend the reach of the Center so that more party organizations will be engaged in the learning of party building theories and the conservation and exploitation of the Grand Canal with an emphasis on large-scale projects. A strong dedication to party building will provide the drive needed to fuel economic growth, unite societal actors, resolve difficult issues, and deliver concrete results, which all added up, feed into a flourishing prospect for the Grand Canal.
