Mr. Li decided to learn how to drive at the age of 79. Six months later, he became the first Hangzhou senior citizen over 70 to get the license, and proved that aging does not make one a disqualified driver.

Many seniors in Hangzhou have submitted the application and 38 of them are now being tested to the issuance of a license, thanks to the policy issued last November, in which people aged 70 and above now can apply for driving licenses to small vehicles.

In addition, relatives and friends of a senior aged 60 and above can apply the license plate and driving license for him/her on their behalf.
