On May 8, a special event centered on family was held in Qianyun Community to honor the importance of families.

The event came in time to celebrate the 28thInternational Day of Families on May 15.

The family engagement activities on-site included calligraphy writing that required joint efforts of family members and a lecture given by Mr. Zhou Zhihua,a master in Sinology. He carried out in depth the origins of the “Four Arts of the Chinese Scholar”, namely, zither, Go, calligraphy, painting.

Ms. Zhang, a resident from Daduhui(大都会) said events like this strengthen her family bond through communication and interaction. “Even though work is demanding, I’ve learned the importance of spending quality time with my child via this event.”

Ana from Slovenia was the host and a helping hand for Master Zhou. As a student in Zhejiang University, she shows her appreciation for Hangzhou by constantly volunteering in Qianyun, an international community that truly facilitates the life and work of expats. Ana said she plans to set her future home here in the community.

“It is hoped that our regular events and gatherings can make both expats and locals feel like home.”said Director Yu of Qianyun Community.
